Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.4% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:50AM(IST)on Monday in a weak market.

MRF Ltd.(up 3.59 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.97 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.47 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.4 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.25 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 4.26 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 2.16 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 1.9 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 1.5 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(down 0.72 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.4 per cent at 19497.2 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 114.41 points at 21668.1, while the BSE Sensex was down 344.81 points at 71250.68.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, JP Power and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Keynote Financial, Orient Press, Grasim Inds.(PP), Tree House Edu and TRF Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Nahar Poly Film, Flair Writing Indust, Shri Ram Switchgears, Digidrive Distributo and Mask Investments hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
