Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya box office: Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon starrer rakes in around Rs 19.9 crore

Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon-starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya has reportedly got a grand overseas opening with the movie raking in $2.4 million (around Rs 19.9 crore). It is supposed to be Kapoor’s highest overseas weekend collection - surpassing the superhit Kabir Singh directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

A romantic comedy, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya released in theatres on February 9. It received mixed reviews from critics but has managed to draw in an audience who are curious to see this fresh pairing of Kapoor and Sanon. The movie had a slow opening but word of mouth publicity and the weekend ensured that more viewers came to watch the film. The total collection of the film reportedly is Rs 27.1 crore on the third day.

The plot of the film revolves around a robotics engineer who falls in love with an AI robot named SIFRA – Super Intelligent Female Robot Automation. Even though Shahid’s character Aryan is aware that she is a robot, he cannot get over his feelings. The antics and the comedy that happens once he introduces his family to her and what happens to this uncommon love story is what the film is about. Dharmendra and Dimple Kapadia add the maturity and sensibility required for the film.

As for Kapoor, the actor had appeared in Jersey (2022) after a three-year gap post Kabir Singh (2019), which was a remake of the superhit Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Last year, he received appreciation for his web series debut Farzi and was also praised for his performance in the film Bloody Daddy, a remake of the French film Sleepless Night. Kapoor’s next will see him playing a cop in Deva.

His co-star Sanon who received a National Film Award for her performance in 2019’s Mimi, has had a bit of a roller coaster journey since then with some poorly received films such as Bachchhan Paandey (2022), Shehzada (2023) and Adipurush (2023), with only Bhediya (2022) being the redeeming factor. She will next be seen in the Tabu-Kareena Kapoor starrer Crew as well as Do Patti also starring Kajol.
