Libson: Support Carbondale’s theater company

Thunder River Theatre Company (TRTC), in our little mountain town of Carbondale, has once again been recognized as having some of the best theatrical talent in the state of Colorado.

OnStage Colorado has just awarded 3 first place prizes and one 4th place prize for TRTC’s 2023 production of the play “You Can’t Take It With You.” In addition to winning OnStage Colorado’s awards, TRTC won a Henry Award in 2023 and received 6 nominations in a variety of categories for two of that year’s productions.

Henrys are Colorado’s equivalent of Tony Awards presented by the Colorado Theatre Guild. A panel, comprised of judges who have attended performances around the state, selects one winner in each category of acting and theater production. It is quite an honor to receive a Henry, as the Colorado Theatre Guild has more than 90 member organizations.

Whether you enjoy thought-provoking drama or easy-going comedy, consider attending one of the upcoming productions by TRTC. Located in the center of Carbondale in a theater built especially for TRTC, each play is staged on multiple dates over a three week period.

“Endgame” by Samuel Beckett, with 11 performances, starts Feb. 16 and “POTUS,” a searingly funny Broadway hit, begins on June 14. Treat yourself to an evening or afternoon performance, and at the same time, you will be supporting professional, quality theater within our valley.
