A 19-year-old man has been arrested by police following a protest in an Oxford bank today (Saturday, February 10).
Thames Valley Police confirmed that they were called to a protest in Barclays in Cornmarket Street earlier this morning at approximately 11.30am.
The Oxford Mail received reports of masked protesters entering the bank.
After being asked to leave Barclays by officers, they made their way down the road to Starbucks and entered the premises.
A statement from Thames Valley Police finished by confirming: “A 19-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and is currently in police custody.”
Protesters took residence outside Barclays in Cornmarket Street last month, waving Palestinian flags, placards and chanting, accusing the bank of “supporting genocide”.
🇵🇸 Great turnout for the #Oxford PSC protest outside #Barclays bank yesterday. Protesters took up chants of "Barclays bank you can't hide, you're supporting genocide!" & "Barclays bank you're no good, all your profits drenched in blood!" #BoycottBarclays #EndIsraeliApartheid pic.twitter.com/PqCNXhGFv0
