Motivational speaker Sandeep Maheshwari has achieved significant interim reliefs seen as legal wins in the ongoing defamation case brought against him by Dr. Vivek Bindra and his case against Dr. Vivek Bindra. These victories come amidst a series of legal proceedings aimed at addressing the dissemination of allegedly defamatory content.
The legal dispute originated from a video released by Maheshwari on December 11, 2023, which triggered a flurry of posts and videos exchanged between the two parties. Dr. Vivek Bindra subsequently filed a civil suit on December 19, 2023, in Faridabad, seeking the removal of the video and community posts, along with a directive to refrain from uploading further defamatory material.
However, the tide turned in Maheshwari’s favour when the Faridabad Court declined Dr. Vivek Bindra’s appeal to remove the videos on December 22, 2023, which was defended by Sandeep Maheshwari’s lawyer, Mumtaz Bhalla. In response to ongoing defamatory content posted by Dr. Vivek Bindra’s agents, Mr. Sandeep Maheshwari took legal action in the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi. On January 15, 2024, the High Court granted an ex parte ad-interim injunction against Vikash Kotnala, restraining him from publishing any defamatory videos against Mr. Sandeep Maheshwari.
Subsequently, Dr. Vivek Bindra filed an appeal against the restraint order dated December 22, 2023, seeking liberty to publish content regarding Sandeep Maheshwari, further seeking removal of Maheshwari’s Video 11.12.2023.
However, the appeal was dismissed by the Additional District and Sessions Judge-I on January 23, 2024, for being not maintainable, further directing the Civil Judge to decide the interim application by February 8, 2024.
Sandeep Maheshwari’s legal team, led by counsel Mumtaz Bhalla, defended his position before the Civil Judge. On February 5, 2024, the Civil Judge confirmed its previous order and declined Dr. Bindra’s injunction for the removal of the video and community posts from Sandeep Maheshwari’s YouTube channel.
