Washington: Vivek Taneja, a 41-year-old Indian-American Tech Executive, has died after suffering life-threatening injuries during an assault outside a restaurant in Washington DC.
Vivek Taneja, a resident of Alexandria, a Virginia suburb of Washington DC, was attacked on February 2 in the 1100 block of 15th Street NW near White House. He succumbed to his injuries on February 07, 2024, media reports said citing local police officials.
The police said Taneja was knocked to the ground by the suspect and hit his head on the pavement after an altercation with another man at the Japanese restaurant, Shoto and Akedo, in the Midtown Center building.

The Washington Police has also offered a $25,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to his arrest and conviction.
This is the 7th death of an Indian or Indian-American in the United States since start of the year 2024.
On Feb 5, 2024, Sameer Kamath, 23, was found dead on Purdue University Campus.
Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a 19-year-old student, was found dead last week, but authorities had ruled out any foul play.
Vivek Saini, a 25-year-old student from Haryana, was hammered to death by a homeless drug-addict in Georgia's Lithonia on January 16. Incidentally, Vivek had given shelter to the homeless and fed him for days.
Another Indian student, identified as Neel Acharya at Purdue University, Indiana, was confirmed dead days after being reported missing on January 28.
Akul Dhawan, another Indian student, was found dead outside the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in January.
Another Indian origin student, Syed Mazahir Ali, was attacked in Chicago by four yet to be identified persons on Feb 4, 2024. Mazahir Ali, who is pursuing Masters in IT from Indiana Wesleyan University, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
