Chichibu Distillery partners with new UK distributor
Speciality Brands has announced its new deal with Chichibu Distillery. From April 2024 the company will take over from Speciality Drinks as exclusive UK distributor of Chichibu’s small batch whisky.
Japanese brand Chichibu began distilling in 2008 and is known for its meticulous production process. Chichibu Distillery was founded by Ichiro Akuto, whose family has long been involved in alcohol production in Japan. Speciality Brands describes the distillery as having ‘cult status’ with whisky fans.
Chris Seale, managing director at Speciality Brands, says the company is “thrilled to join forces with Chichibu.”
He continues: “This partnership aligns seamlessly with our mission to bring exceptional spirits to the UK and will greatly strengthen our world whisky offering. We look forward to introducing Chichibu's remarkable whiskies to our customers and spirits drinkers in the market.”
The six expressions joining Speciality Brands’ portfolio are:

- Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries – 46.5% ABV – RRP £110
- Ichiro’s Malt Wine Wood Reserve – 46.5% ABV – RRP £110
- Ichiro’s Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve – 46.5% ABV – RRP £110
- Ichiro’s Malt & Grain World Blended Whisky Limited Edition – 48.5% ABV – RRP £175
- Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries 2021 Chichibu x Komagatake – 53.5% ABV – RRP £300
