The Shirley Fiterman Art Center (SFAC) at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) will host an opening reception for “Drawing Alphabets,” an exhibition of original work created by faculty in the Art Foundations programs; and in the Media Arts and Technology Department on February 21, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The exhibition will be available for viewing February 15 through March 23 at SFAC North and South Galleries in BMCC’s Fiterman Hall, 81 Barclay Street in lower Manhattan.
This presentation of faculty artwork will showcase the range and depth of works produced in a wide array of mediums, and highlight the College’s continued commitment to its growing art and media programs.
“Drawing Alphabets” offers an overview of varied contemporary art practices and provides insight into the processes and techniques in use by BMCC faculty, ranging from painting and sculpture, to installation art, works on paper, experimental photography, video and works employing new media.
The Art Foundations Programs confer an Associate of Art degree in Art History and Associate of Science degree in and Studio Art. Students choose concentrations in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and digital imaging. Graduates are equipped with the fundamental training required for successful transfer to a bachelor’s degree program.
The Media Arts and Technology department, conferring an Associate of Science degree, offers programs in Animation and Motion Graphics, Multimedia Programming and Design, and Video Arts and Technology. All three programs prepare students for careers in digital design and transfer to a bachelor’s degree program.
The Shirley Fiterman Art Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. and by appointment. To schedule an appointment please contact ShirleyFitermanArtCenter@bmcc.cuny.edu.
