The madras high court has dismissed bjp leader Annamalai's petition seeking to quash the case filed against him for defaming minorities.

Tamil Nadu bharatiya janata party leader annamalai, who gave an interview to a YouTube channel on the occasion of diwali in october 2022, mentioned that a Christian missionary had first filed a case in the supreme court against the bursting of firecrackers during Diwali.

A social activist piyush Manush had filed a complaint in the salem court claiming that this is inciting hatred between the two religions. In connection with this case, the salem court had issued a summons to Annamalai. In this case, a petition was filed in the madras high court on behalf of annamalai seeking cancellation of the summons and cancellation of the case.

In the petition, he had stated that his speech was misunderstood and even though the speech was aired a year ago, there was no impact on public peace. Judge anand Venkatesh, who heard this petition, refused to quash the case against annamalai and dismissed his petition. He has also ordered that the case against annamalai can be considered by the salem court in accordance with the law.
