Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.63% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:09AM(IST)on Friday in an upbeat market.

Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 1.17 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.07 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 0.38 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.2 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 1.99 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 1.05 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.72 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.69 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.63 per cent at 19525.3 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 18.35 points at 21736.3, while the BSE Sensex was up 96.24 points at 71524.67.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Zomato, Vodafone Idea, NHPC and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Orchid Pharma, Apollo Pipes, Schneider, TRF Ltd and Digicontent hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MPS Infotecnics, Creative Eye, Stampede Cap(DVR), Future Consumer and The Western India hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
