Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.37%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 2.48 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.1 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(up 1.95 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 1.22 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.89 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MRF Ltd.(down 3.79 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.35 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 1.45 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.38 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.01 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.37 per cent down at 19576.0.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 64.55 points at 21782.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 167.06 points at 71595.49.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato, JP Power and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Orient Press, Sindhu Trade, Apollo Pipes, Orchid Pharma and Keynote Financial hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while ESAF Small Finance, IKIO Lighting, Stampede Cap(DVR), Medicamen Bio and Vinati Organics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
