The Vincentric 2024 Best Value In America Awards were announced, and Subaru was shut out again in 2024. I cover the awards annually, and it’s now the third consecutive year Subaru gets no awards. It’s been since 2021 when the Outback midsize SUV received an award. Check out the category winners here and why Subaru received no recognition again.
Every year, Vincentric measures the lowest cost-of-ownership among car brands and segments to determine its Best Value In America Awards.
Vincentric measures the lowest cost of ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees, taxes, financing, fuel, maintenance, insurance, opportunity cost, and repairs. A statistical model identified winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price.
The 2024 Crosstrek subcompact SUV, 2024 Outback midsize SUV, 2024 Subaru Forester compact SUV, and 2024 Ascent 3-Row SUV do not rank highest in their category.
The Hyundai Kona Electric takes the top subcompact SUV spot, the Toyota RAV4 Prime wins the compact SUV, and the Toyota Venza is the midsize SUV winner.
Toyota wins the best passenger car brand, SUV, Ford takes the best truck brand, Lexus is the luxury car brand winner, Tesla is the best luxury SUV brand, and Toyota wins the SUV and Van brand award.
Why does Subaru get shut out again?
MY TAKE
Many electric and Hybrid models are winning the Vincentric Best Value In America Awards again this year—Subaru has no Hybrid models in its lineup and only one electric model, the Solterra. Subaru has new hybrid models on the drawing board, but they will be available for U.S. customers in 2025-2027. The 2025 Forester Hybrid is coming next.

Subaru is playing the catch-up game by offering new hybrid all-wheel-drive models. They are coming, but the next-generation Forester Hybrid is still one year away.
