Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport unveils first phase of £8 million refurb

8 Feb 2024 by Mark Caswell

IHG’s Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport Hotel has reopened to the public following the first phase of an £8 million refurbishment project.

As this thread on our forum attests the hotel has been closed since at least 2022, but has now reopened its doors with features including an open lobby concept with a new bar and redesigned reception area.

The property’s 299 rooms have also been revamped, and in the coming months the hotel will unveil a new standalone restaurant and extended Club Lounge. Other facilities include a fitness centre, eight meeting rooms and a business centre.

The hotel is located within walking distance of Manchester airport’s terminal buildings and the airport’s railway, tram, bus and coach station.

The refurbishment follows the opening of IHG’s Holiday Inn Manchester Airport last year, as part of the £1 billion Airport City Manchester development.

Commenting on the news Matt Byram, general manager for the Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport Hotel, said:

“I’m proud and delighted to welcome guests back to the hotel and to introduce our new and improved facilities after this mega refurbishment.

“So far the response has been phenomenal and what’s really exciting is that there is even more to come with a new Club Lounge and stand-alone restaurant on the way soon.

“Our travel and business guests will find everything they need here, in between their wider journeys and adventures, whether that is to plug in and catch up or completely relax and switch off.

“The new facilities will also appeal to Manchester airport and business locals as well as networking groups as a great place to meet and connect.”
