Paul McNeive: Planning advice can command a premium when so much is at stake

The larger estate agencies have a chequered history in adding on service lines, with services like plant and machinery, fine art and financial advice coming and going. There are recent success stories in the area of ESG advice and Savills has now made a success of adding planning consultancy to its service offering.

I spoke with Limerick man Raymond Tutty, head of planning at Savills. He established its planning team in Ireland in 2018, on returning from Savills UK, where he worked in planning for 11 years. The new service has bedded down well, he said, and is attracting increasing numbers of instructions in the areas of large commercial developments and residential schemes.
