MARTIAL arts legend Bruce Lee once said that we should “be like water” to fluidly navigate the challenges of life.
This timeless philosophy is vividly embodied in OPPO smartphones powered by the latest ColorOS 14 system. OPPO’s unique “Aqua Dynamics” visual elements come to life under your fingertips with a captivating ebb and flow of vital information and activity.
For instance, without having to open the Grab app, OPPO users in Singapore can receive an uninterrupted stream of real-time updates about their Grab ride on their phone screen.
Important details such as the vehicle number, pick-up time, arrival time and journey time flow to the small Aqua Dynamics panel without interrupting your current task, and you can tap on the panel to see more.
The company is also working with Grab to develop a smart service card that will deliver tailored recommendations for Grab rides and food delivery in Singapore.

These are just a few examples of how OPPO is always seeking to enhance the user experience in different countries.
It always begins with OPPO putting its eyes and ears to the ground, then asking the question, “How can we harness technology to spread joy to our users?”
Keeping phones dry for work
In recent years, OPPO staff noticed the challenges of delivery riders in Singapore and the region.
Many food delivery riders and motorcycle users in the region were using waterproof plastic bags to protect their phones from the rain. This kept their phones dry, but this also meant that it was harder for them to use the touchscreens, and slowed down their deliveries.
OPPO then set out to improve the waterproof and dustproof ratings of phones, such as with the IPX4 Water Resistance1 rating of the OPPO A78, for users in Singapore and South-east Asia.
This meant that, rain or shine, OPPO users could get their job done faster with less hassle.
“By collaborating with industry leaders like Grab, we are making it more efficient and intuitive for users to get the information they need through Aqua Dynamics and Shelf, helping us to create an even greater level of immersion and convenience in ColorOS 14,” says general manager of OPPO’s internet service Bob Chen.
The innovation continues when users step indoors and into a building lift.
It is common for phone signals to get cut off inside a lift, but OPPO’s Linkboost in their phone models will use artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms and special sensors to reconnect users to the network as quickly as possible.
OPPO’s Linkboost ensures that phone connectivity remains as uninterrupted as a river’s course, even within dense concrete jungles.
Boosting productivity
Since it launched its phones in Singapore 10 years ago, OPPO has focused on finding out the needs or paint points of users here so that it can better design its products to meet – and even exceed – their expectations.
As it continues to seek new partners and opportunities to transform user experiences, OPPO also regularly rolls out new software innovations to boost productivity for its users.
Its latest tools such as File Dock, Smart Touch and Smart Image Matting were designed with today’s content-creating users in mind.
In today’s media-saturated environment, OPPO saw that there was an increasing need to organise users’ vast collection of files. The File Dock feature on its ColorOS 14 phones lets you gather photos, web pages, and other useful elements into an invisible folder that appears exactly when you need it to.
If you are the type who is constantly grabbing a screenshot to share with your friends, OPPO’s Smart Touch feature lets you capture images with ease and recognises the text within seconds.
For content creation, OPPO’s Smart Image Matting feature easily extracts a subject from a photo or video still and saves the image in File Dock. Now you can easily transform the image into a sticker or use it in another app.
All this means that you can now locate, capture and edit all your media content without missing a beat.

Elevating portrait photography
Just as water reflects the beauty of its surroundings, the OPPO Reno11 Series has also taken portrait photography to the next level for mid-range phones, thanks to the Portrait Expert Engine and telephoto lenses.
OPPO’s Portrait Expert Engine enhances portrait photos through a meticulous four-step procedure.
It starts by identifying faces and differentiating subjects from their background. The Engine then focuses on preserving natural Asian skin tones and facial details, followed by enhancing image sharpness, adding depth with light and shadow effects, and finally, refining the background and merging it aesthetically with the subject.

APAC president of OPPO Andy Shi says: “Over the past decade, OPPO has demonstrated its commitment to the APAC (Asia-Pacific) market through continuous localisation efforts, from product to services to experiences.
“Starting from a simple phone and growing into one of the leading smartphone brands in the region – our journey exemplifies our resonance with local consumers.”
