The best New Balance collabs are often whisper quiet: Think JJJJound's tonal suede spins on the 993 or Comme des Garçons' stark black-and-white 1906Rs. But Miu Miu's New Balance sneakers are a notable exception. Since 2021, the Italian label has regularly turned out high-octane reinterpretations of the classic 574 model, featuring everything from nubby corduroy to ripped denim.
Now, for its last take on the 574 before moving on to other NB silhouettes, Miu Miu has dropped its most Miu Miu sneaker yet. Because it's sparkly. Really sparkly.
First unveiled during Paris Fashion Week last August, this sneaker features a white canvas base overlaid with matching suede panels. So far, so 574. Well, not exactly, as big swaths of the upper is also completely covered in thousands and thousands of crystals, extending from the heel all the way to the toe. Even the “N” logo across the lateral and medial sidewalls is encrusted with them.
An oversized Miu Miu-branded tag wraps around the tongue, and down below, the shoe sits on top of an EVA foam midsole and finished off with a grippy gum rubber outsole.
It shouldn't come as too much of a shocker, but all of this comes with a price. While regular 574s will set you back $90, the crystal-laden Miu Miu x New Balance 574 retails for $1,690. That's a lot of scratch—but if you're looking to put a little extra shine in your step, it's tough to beat these kicks.
