The Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial has reportedly crossed Rs 50 crore at the box-office in a span of 34 days!
According to a report by the Indian box-office tracker Sacnilk.com, the Vikrant Massey-starrer has collected an impressive Rs 48 crore so far. “In a remarkable feat, the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial 12th Fail has crossed the 50 crores nett mark in its sixth week, totalling Rs 50.68 crore nett signalling a resounding success for content-driven cinema. Starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar, this real-life tale has not only captured hearts but also emerged as a triumph at the box office,'' the producers shared on social media.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), trade analyst Taran Adarsh declared the movie as a “superhit.”
Along with the Vicky Kaushal-Sara Alia Khan's romantic drama 'Zara Hatke Zara Bachke', '12th Fail' emerges as the second 'surprise hit' of the year. It also provides a promising future to small-budget content oriented movies. These films which often lack the hype of big-budget movies featuring massive stars, often sink without a trace at the box-office and while they gained some prominence in the 2010s, with the success of movies such as 'Bareilly Ki Barfi', 'Vicky Donor', 'Queen' etc, with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and rise of OTT, led to a bad phase for such films as audience only turned up at the theatres for tentpole movies.
