Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue Updates: All 41 workers trapped inside the Silkyara under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi were safely rescued from the tunnel on Tuesday evening.
Rat-hole mining experts manually drilled through the last 10- 12-metre stretch of debris of the collapsed portion of the under-construction tunnel on the Char Dham route and cleared it. Now, in the final leg of the mission, the trapped workers will start coming out through the pipe pushed in manually soon.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the rescued workers on call after the rescue op came to an end on Tuesday evening.
It has been 17 days fuelled by anxiety with bursts of hope and largely courage on part of the 41 workers, who got trapped inside the collapsed section of the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi on November 12, the morning of Diwali. Following the rescue of the 41 trapped workers, a compensation of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for the rescued workers.

As per the latest update, rescue operation at the Silkyara tunnel site has come to an end. All the workers were taken out safely and have been taken to the community hospital.

As 10 workers have been rescued out of the tunnel site as of now, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared the updates of the rescue operation on X and said that initial medical check-ups are being conducted.

Warm clothes and initial medical check ups have been provided to the first three rescued workers.
After the first two workers being rescued from the tunnel site, a third worker has also been rescued from the site.
