    University stampede: Kerala Govt seeks inquiry reports from Vice Chancellor, Principal Secretary Higher Education

    After four students lost their lives in a stampede at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala's Higher Education Minister R Bindu has asked the Principal Secretary of Higher Education and the varsity Vice Chancellor to submit their inquiry reports. The stampede happened during a music tech festival at the CUSAT on Saturday evening. Apart from four deaths, over 50 people were also injured, some of whom are critical. "Proper guidelines are being issued in order to avoid such incidents in future. And we will take all precautionary measures. This is a usual practice the university uses to conduct tech fests and university competitions. This is the first time a tragic incident has occurred," Bindu said.

    Palestinian prisoners start to be released and Israeli hostages return to Israel, military says

    Israel began releasing 39 Palestinian prisoners on Sunday following Hamas' release of 13 Israelis and four foreigners in the second round of swaps under a cease-fire deal, the Israeli military said, after the militant group initially delayed the exchange for several hours and claimed that Israel had violated the terms of a truce deal. The Israeli military said the released hostages, including four Thais, had been transferred to Israel. They were being taken to hospitals for observation and to be reunited with their families.
