ReutersNEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Federal Bank Ltd.(up 2.22 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 1.66 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.13 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.09 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.94 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 2.22 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 0.8 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent) and HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 0.48 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.27 per cent up at 43737.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 5.05 points at 19406.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 16.29 points at 64942.4.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of JP Power, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Lagnam Spintex, Nitco, Texmaco Infra, FCS Software and Creative Peripherals hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Perfect Infraenginee(PP), Godha Cabcon & Insul, Atam Valves, Winsome Yarns and Compuage Infocom hit their fresh 52-week lows.
