Mom Sensing Movement in Baby's Crib Not Prepared for What She Finds

A cat called Rosy has melted hearts all over the Internet after her mom caught her chilling in her baby sibling's crib, in a clip that has since gone viral on social media.

In the viral video, shared on TikTok in September by the cat's owner, under the username 4pets2artists1home, the poster detects some movement in the crib and rushes to check what's going on since her baby was with her partner.

As the poster gets to the crib, the family cat, Rosy, can be seen lying there like a baby, meowing at her owner, who stares incredulously.

The hilarious post comes with a caption that reads: "When you sense movement in the crib but the baby is in the front room with the other parent. I WILL clean the sheet before the baby goes back in there, so calm down, mom police. Besides, they're indoor cats so not as risky."

While popular culture wrongly portrays cats as cold pets who don't feel for their owner, research states that cats do love their owners and see them as family. A study carried out by researchers at Oregon State University found that cats displayed distinct attachment styles toward their caregivers similar to dogs and babies.

An extract from the study states: "Our study provides evidence that this social flexibility extends to cross-species attachments, suggesting that, like dogs, cats are social generalists. Attachment to humans may represent a flexible adaptation of offspring-caretaker attachment that has facilitated success in anthropogenic environments."

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 164,200 views and 26,500 likes on the platform.

One user, Jerry ONeil136, commented: "Can't tell if CHONK, or just lots of fur." User mannycaudillo202 said: "The cat is keeping it warm for the baby."

Rosa added: "LMAO I'll tell u having the baby monitor go off in the middle of the night while still pregnant is scarier. I just saw these 2 bright eyes looking at me."

Kai wrote: "Cat: excuse me I'm enjoying myself here." Allison Ulmer said: "Don't know what that meow meant to the cat community at large, but this video just summoned my orange boi from another room."

Another user, RobertEarl, wrote: "I swear my first thought was 'cat ate the baby,' I'm sorry and ashamed."
