On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.61 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.84 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 1.11 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 0.92 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.88 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.67 per cent down at 15916.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 61.3 points at 19079.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 237.72 points at 63874.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Piramal Pharma, YES Bank and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Apollo Micro Systems, North Eastern, Emkay Global, Orbit Exports and Weizmann Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Godha Cabcon & Insul, Max Estates, Shree Ram Proteins, Yasho Industries and Balaxi Pharma hit their fresh 52-week lows.
