Senior citizens, PwDs cast their votes in Mizoram polls using home voting and postal ballots

5,306 elderly citizens aged above 80, individuals with disabilities, and government officials participated in Mizoram's November 7 assembly election through home voting and postal ballots. While 1,100 seniors and PwDs voted at home in the presence of officials, 4,206 government officials voted via postal ballots. Notably, no voters from these categories cast their votes in three districts: Hnahthial, Lawngtlai, and Siaha.

Around 5,306 senior citizens above 80 years old, people with disabilities (PwDs), and government officials, associated with the election process, exercised their franchise for the November 7 election to the Mizoram assembly through home voting and postal ballots.

While 1,100 senior citizens and PwDs exercised their franchise in their homes in the presence of election officials, 4,206 government officials, including security and polling personnel, voted through postal ballots in various counters set up in 11 districts.

No voter under senior citizens and PwDs categories has cast their votes in three districts – Hnahthial, Lawngtlai and Siaha.

According to the election officials, in Aizawl district highest number of 463 senior citizens and PwD voters have cast their votes, followed by Serchhip district (168) and Saitual district (149).
