Pet owners will be the first to say how difficult it is to leave their animals for any amount of time. It doesn't matter if it is a quick trip to the grocery store or if you go on vacation, owners continue to think about their pets 24/7. But considering a pet thinks of their owner as their entire world, they miss us even more than we miss them.
That is evident in a September video from TikTok user @junietheshihtzu. Juniper the Shih Tzu's owner, Kayla Valdes, was gone for three days and, when she returned, the puppy could not contain her excitement.

Valdes got Juniper back in March, but it wasn't until a few months later that her now 7-month-old Shih Tzu started reacting in this way to seeing her. Juniper previously had separation anxiety, but with age and more confidence, she is used to Valdes going back and forth between her homes.
Valdes told Newsweek that she will usually spend the working week at her home and return to Juniper and her boyfriend, Gustavo Bendana, on Friday afternoons for the weekend. As soon as Juniper hears Valdes on the phone, she gets excited.
Bendana decided to hold Juniper and bring her outside to greet Valdes. After seeing how happy she was, it became a tradition. Valdes wanted to film these memories and share the precious moments on Juniper's TikTok account, which in hindsight she's glad she did because she likes seeing how big her baby has grown.

"Anytime I'm coming home, she knows her dad is going to take her outside to see me," said Valdes. "She does this head flip. She wants to get out of his arms and get into mine."
Juniper has a similar reaction to when dad comes home too. One time, she was napping when Bendana came back from the gym. Valdes said she woke up and started running in circles. It does not matter if they are gone for 20 minutes; Juniper will be just as thrilled to have her parents with her again.
The next test of her excitement will be to see how she acts when Valdes carries her outside when Bendana comes home.
How Viewers Reacted
This clip has touched the hearts of viewers as it reminded them just how special a pet's love can be. We are their entire world, and any amount of time away from a pet is saddening to them. That is why the reunions are oh-so-sweet.
"They are the best dogs. They show so much love," wrote one TikTok user.
Viewers fell in love with Juniper the Shih Tzu's reaction not only because it's so similar to how their own pet reacts, but also because of the mom's voice. Valdes is showing everyone that it's not just them that uses a high-pitched voice when talking to pets.
"We all speak baby with our babies," commented @monicacamal.
The truth is that using "baby talk" when speaking with our pets is common. It is another way to connect with our pets besides physical touch. The American Kennel Club says that using this singsong melody of a voice makes owners feel more authentic, engaged, and effective as caregivers.
