The incident came to public attention when a user shared a video on X, showing a fire involving an Ola S1 scooter near the parking lot of D.Y Patil College in Pimpri Chinchwad. While the fire brigade was on the scene to control the fire, the video displayed heavy smoke emanating from the scooter.
Although no casualties have been reported, the scooter sustained significant damage. This is the second such incident involving Ola's electric scooters in Pune. In March 2022, another Ola S1 Pro scooter caught fire in the Dhanori area of Pune. In July of the same year, an Ola electric scooter worth Rs 149,000 reportedly caught fire at a residence in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district.
Additionally, on October 20, another X user reported a fire incident involving an Ola S1 Pro scooter, along with a picture of the extensively damaged vehicle.
