The NSE Nifty index closed 264.9 points down at 18857.25, while BSE Sensex ended down 900.91 points at 63148.15.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 4.02 per cent), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 3.54 per cent), UPL Ltd.(down 3.29 per cent), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 3.28 per cent) and Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 3.19 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
