The NSE Nifty50 index ended 159.6 points down at 19122.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 522.82 points at 64049.06.
Coal India Ltd.(up 1.37%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 1.12%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 0.98%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.78%), State Bank of India(up 0.58%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.33%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 0.26%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.25%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.06%) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.04%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Infosys Ltd.(down 2.74%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 2.23%), Cipla Ltd.(down 2.22%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 2.2%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.9%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.81%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.79%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 1.77%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.64%) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.55%) closed in the red.
