A 20-year-old woman in Jharkhand allegedly murdered her boyfriend in his sleep for refusing to marry her, police said on Monday. The accused, identified as Anjali Kumar hacked her 24-year-old boyfriend Dharmen Oraon, to death with an axe while he was sleeping.
The incident took place near Kolhua village in Patan police station area of Jharkhand’s Palamu district, police added.
The accused woman was arrested on Monday, and her blood-stained salwar-kameez and the axe used for the murder were recovered, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Surjeet Kumar said.
According to a PTI report, Anjali was in a relationship with Dharmen and wanted to marry him. However, he refused the proposal. A jilted Anjali then planned the murder and called Dharmen to a secluded spot surrounded by bushes on Saturday, police said.
After talking for some time, Dharmen fell asleep on the ground. Anjali soon got the axe that she had brought, and allegedly hacked Dharmen to death in his sleep, police added.
After committing the murder, Anjali hid the body in the bushes and left the place. Locals discovered the body on Sunday.
Police said they cracked the case within 48 hours, and gathered the required evidence, besides arresting the accused.
