In a series of leaked diplomatic communications accessed by News18, it has come to light that cash-strapped Pakistan is allocating ample amounts of funds for Kashmir propaganda to malign India’s image abroad while grappling with a severe financial crisis.
The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Kashmir Affairs Directorate, Assistant Director for Kashmir Affairs, issued a letter to the Chief Accounts Officer (MoFA) regarding a substantial funds transfer of US $9,500, equivalent to 27,44,550 Pakistan Rupees.
These funds are supposedly allocated to support the observance of what they refer to as “Kashmir Black Day” on October 27 at the Pakistan New York Consulate, US. This comes even as other leaked messages indicate that Pakistan’s missions abroad are facing significant financial constraints.
A letter dated September 14, from the Pakistan New York Consulate to MoFA Islamabad revealed that there were insufficient funds to cover the vehicle insurance for cars held in the consulate. This shortage has hindered the movement of Diplomat Staff Cars.
Furthermore, the Pakistan New York Consulate wrote to MoFA Islamabad, clearly stating that the current financial crisis has left the mission struggling to meet staff salaries and other authorised expenses. It is anticipated that in the coming months, the mission may be unable to fulfill these financial obligations.
Despite these economic challenges, the Pakistan government has authorised the transfer of substantial funds amounting to 27,44,550 Pakistan Rupees for organising Kashmir-related activities, which have been deemed illegal and are targeted against India.
Pakistan has been facing a severe economic crisis, leading the nation to seek loans and funds from various foreign nations and international forums, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
This crisis has resulted in soaring inflation rates, leading to increased prices for essential commodities such as food, fuel, and electricity. Pakistan citizens have been holding frequent protests against these high prices, calling on the government to take action to alleviate their economic hardships.
