AgenciesNEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.26 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 1.09 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(up 1.04 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(up 1.01 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(up 0.75 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.81 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 1.8 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 1.37 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 1.36 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.38 per cent down at 15273.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 46.4 points at 19624.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 247.78 points at 65629.24.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.
Shares of JP Power, Vodafone Idea, NBCC , Suzlon Energy and IRB Infra Dev. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Aban Offshore, Shakti Pumps, GKW Ltd, DB(Intl)Stock and BPL Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gensol Engg, Delta Corp, Winsome Yarns, Tarsons Products and V Mart Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
