Could this make Canon a target for acquisition or spin-off of its lithography? Perhaps by someone wanting vertical integration. Granted it's only about one tenth of Canon's revenues. It's such a sleepy low-priced Japanese stock.

My edit here is Barrons cover story on chip onshoring. This would seem to fit that theme?

@Natturner1966 I’d put the low end at 330-350 zone prior resistance from 5 years ago.

My guess is that the fact CAJPY is at 12.5x and ASML is at 30x should tell most of the story for the next year or so.
Your analysis is thorough, and your presentation is clear. In the semiconductor sector, AVGO is my gold standard. Unless a stock compares favorably to AVGO right now, I'm not buying it in this sector. I like the prospects for AMD and MRVL, and watch them closely, but AVGO has treated me extremely favorably and I expect it to continue to do so if it gets the go-ahead from China to acquire VMW. I understand approval is imminent and that AVGO still hopes to close that acquisition before year end.

I trust you would agree that AVGO is a superior choice than ASML. They are admittedly not direct competitors from a commercial perspective, but they are definitely direct competitors when it comes to my capital allocation.
