Israel Palestine War News Live Updates - Day 7: Israel orders over a million people to leave northern Gaza in 24 hours, UN says it's impossible without devastating consequences
Israel Palestine War Live Updates: Israel's military on Friday called for all civilians of Gaza City, more than 1 million people, to relocate south within 24 hours, as it amassed tanks near the Gaza Strip ahead of an expected ground invasion.

The Israeli military said it would operate "significantly" in Gaza City in the coming days and civilians would only be able to return when another announcement was made.

An IDF spokesperson said "the aim is to minimise the damage to civilians" as "there are significant combat operations ongoing, and we are preparing for the future and the continuance of our combat operations".

Meanwhile, the United Nations urged Israel to rescind the call and warned that it could have 'devastating humanitarian consequences'. "The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences," Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Hamas has made an urgent plea to international relief organisations to deliver essential medical and humanitarian supplies to Gaza, where Israel's ongoing airstrikes have exacerbated a deepening humanitarian crisis.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the ongoing Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 1,537 individuals, including 500 children and 267 women, since their commencement following a deadly Hamas attack last Saturday. An additional 6,612 people have sustained injuries. A statement from the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs revealed that over 330,000 individuals have been displaced in Gaza since Israel initiated its bombardment of the region.

Israel has been reeling since an October 7 attack, when Hamas gunmen swept into small towns, kibbutzim and a music festival, killing more than 1,200 people and taking about 150 hostages.

In retaliation, Israel has rained air and artillery strikes on Gaza -- a densely populated enclave of 2.3 million people -- flattening buildings and killing more than 1,400 people, many of them civilians.

In the Gaza Strip, meanwhile, residents are facing ever-growing uncertainty after the territory's only power plant ran out of fuel and shut down Wednesday. Without power, communication is limited and information is scarce.

Israel Palestine War News Live: Israel's notice for civilians in Gaza

Israel Palestine War: The notice read: "The IDF calls for the evacuation of all civilians of Gaza City from their homes southwards for their own safety and protection and move to the area south of the Wadi Gaza, as shown on the map.

The Hamas terrorist organization waged a war against the State of Israel and Gaza City is an area where military operations take place. This evacuation is for your own safety.

You will be able to return to Gaza City only when another announcement permitting it is made. Do not approach the area of the security fence with the State of Israel.

Hamas terrorists are hiding in Gaza City inside tunnels underneath houses and inside buildings populated with innocent Gazan civilians.

Civilians of Gaza City, evacuate south for your own safety and the safety of your families and distance yourself from Hamas terrorists who are using you as human shields.

In the following days, the IDF will continue to operate significantly in Gaza City and make extensive efforts to avoid harming civilians."

Israel Palestine War News Live: UN says Israeli military warns 1.1 mln Gazans to relocate south

Israel Palestine War News Live: Israel's military informed the United Nations early on Friday that the 1.1 million Palestinians in Gaza should relocate to the enclave's south within the next 24 hours, a U.N spokesman said, in what Palestinians fear could be a precursor to a planned Israeli ground offensive.

The Israeli military did not immediately provide comment on the warning, which came as Israel amassed tanks near the Gaza border and pounded the Palestinian enclave with air strikes following a deadly Hamas militant attack in Israel.

"The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences," U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.

"The United Nations strongly appeals for any such order, if confirmed, to be rescinded avoiding what could transform what is already a tragedy into a calamitous situation," he said.

Israel Palestine War News Live: Hamas attack relegates Palestinian Authority to sidelines

Israel Palestine War News Live: In launching its bloody attack on Israel, Hamas has effectively sidelined the Palestinian Authority and stamped its authority across the whole of the occupied Palestinian territories, analysts said.

On Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath day of rest, hundreds of Hamas fighters from the Gaza Strip stormed across the Israeli border by land, air and sea, killing more than 1,200 people in Israel, mostly civilians, and seizing about 150 hostages under the cover of a deluge of rockets.

Israel has retaliated with artillery and air strikes on Gaza, killing more than 1,400 people during six days of intense fighting and imposing a "complete siege" there. It has also massed tens of thousands of troops along the border with Gaza in what appears to be a preparation for a ground invasion.

With its "Al-Aqsa Flood" campaign, Hamas has imposed itself "as the Palestinian interlocutor of reference, the one capable of dictating the political and military agenda", Xavier Guignard, a specialist on the Palestinian territories, told AFP.

Israel Palestine War News Live: Biden slams Trump for calling Hezbollah 'smart'

Israel Palestine War News Live: US President Joe Biden condemned Donald Trump on Thursday for describing Hezbollah as "very smart" even as the Lebanese militant group exchanges fire with Israel following the Hamas attack on the US ally.

During a campaign speech in Florida, Trump also falsely accused the Biden administration of bankrolling the Hamas assault as a result of a prisoner exchange deal with Iran, which has historically funded Hamas and Hezbollah.

Biden said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that "our nation's support for Israel is resolute and unwavering. And the right time to praise the terrorists who seek to destroy them is never."

Trump had made his remarks to supporters in West Palm Beach as he was criticizing the White House.

"You know, Hezbollah is very smart. They're all very smart,'" Trump said.

Israel Palestine War News Live: Biden's devotion to Israel faces a new test

Israel Palestine War News Live: Joe Biden had been to Dachau, the infamous concentration camp in Germany, several times before, but he sensed changes when he visited as vice president with a teenaged granddaughter.

“It seemed as though things had been rearranged to make visitors less uncomfortable," he recalled in a memoir published two years after the 2015 visit. "They had softened the cruel edges over the years.”

Unwilling to settle for what he believed was a more sanitised experience, Biden asked the guides to bring them to the gas chamber, where they “slammed the door behind us with a frightening clank.”

For Biden, it's a direct line from there to the Hamas attacks on Israel, which caused the largest loss of Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust. In a searing speech from the White House, Biden said the bloodshed "brought to the surface painful memories and the scars left by a millennia of antisemitism and genocide of the Jewish people.”

The massacres and kidnappings have sparked a crisis that threatens to engulf more of the Middle East. They've also resonated deeply for the U.S. president, whose devotion to Israel is rooted in a childhood that saw the birth of the Jewish state and in a political career that parallels repeated threats to destroy it.

Biden's commitment could be tested if Israel launches an incursion into Gaza, where Hamas is headquartered, in a military operation that would compound the suffering already experienced by Palestinians facing waves of retaliatory bombardment.

Israel Palestine War News Live: Hamas practised in plain sight, posting video of mock attack weeks before border breach

Israel Palestine War News Live: Less than a month before Hamas fighters blew through Israel's high-tech “Iron Wall” and launched an attack that would leave more than 1,200 Israelis dead, they practised in a very public dress rehearsal.

A slickly produced two-minute propaganda video posted to social media by Hamas on September 12 shows fighters using explosives to blast through a replica of the border gate, sweep in on pickup trucks and then move building by building through a full-scale reconstruction of an Israeli town, firing automatic weapons at human-silhouetted paper targets.

The Islamic militant group's live-fire exercise dubbed operation “Strong Pillar” also shows militants wearing body armour and combat fatigues swiftly carrying out operations that included the destruction of mock-ups of the wall's concrete towers and a communications antenna, just as they would do for real in the deadly attack last Saturday.

Israel Palestine War News Live: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Thursday that Gazans must "stay steadfast and remain on their land", amid calls for Cairo to allow safe passage for civilians stuck in Gaza.

The Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza is the only passage in and out of the coastal enclave not controlled by Israel.

Israel Palestine War News Live: As Israel battles Hamas, all eyes are on Hezbollah

Israel Palestine War News Live: Will Lebanon's heavily armed Hezbollah militia join the Israel-Hamas war? The answer could well determine the direction of a battle that is bound to reshape the Middle East.

Hezbollah, which like Hamas is supported by Iran, has so far been on the fence about joining the fighting between Israel and the Gaza Strip's Islamic militant rulers. For the past six days, Israel has besieged Gaza and hammered the enclave of 2.3 million Palestinians with hundreds of airstrikes in response to a deadly Hamas attack on southern Israel.

Israel, which has vowed to crush Hamas, is now preparing for a possible ground offensive. While the country's political and military leaders weigh the next move, they are nervously watching Hezbollah on Israel's northern border and have sent troop reinforcements to the area. Hezbollah, with an arsenal of tens of thousands of rockets and missiles capable of hitting virtually anywhere in Israel, is viewed as a far more formidable foe than Hamas.

Israel Palestine War News Live: Four Patriot missiles were reportedly launched from Israeli territory, with three of them exploding in the airspace of southern Lebanon and the fourth falling in one of the plains in the area, Lebanese military sources have said.

The three missiles exploded in Marjeyoun and Khiam, while the fourth fell in Al-Mari town in south Lebanon, the sources told Xinhua news agency on condition of anonymity.

No injuries were reported. The sources said they monitored the launching of these missiles from an Iron Dome platform on the southwestern side of the occupied Syrian Golan, noting that no rockets were launched from Lebanon toward Israel.

Sirens sounded in all the Israeli settlements adjacent to the Lebanese border for several minutes, followed by an intense flight of Israeli warplanes along the borderline and over the Lebanese areas of Arqoub and Marjeyoun for about two hours.
