An NIA Special Court in Mohali has ordered that the immovable property of designated terrorist and Khalistan Liberation Force chief Lakhbir Singh Rode be confiscated, in a move that will give fillip to the agency’s efforts to dismantle the terror network.
In an effort to freeze the financial assets of Singh, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has secured the confiscation of the immovable property belonging to him from the Special Court, Mohali, under Section 33(5) of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), 1967, under various provisions of the Explosive Substance Act, 1908; UAPA, 1967; NDPS Act, 1985; and IPC.
The property is situated in Kothe Gurupura (Rode) villagein Punjab’s Moga.
The case, which pertains to a bomb blast in the fuel tank of a motorcycle near Punjab National Bank in Fazilka, was originally registered as an FIR in September 2021.
During investigation, the role of Lakhbir Singh Rode, self-styled chief of proscribed terrorist organisation ISYF and KLF, who is continuously trying to disturb peace and communal harmony in Punjab, was revealed as the mastermind of whole conspiracy.
Rode, in association with Pakistan-based handlers, hatched the whole conspiracy to send consignments of heroin, arms, ammunitions and explosives (especially tiffin bombs and grenades), to carry out attacks to create terror among citizens of Punjab using IEDs and causing maximum casualties.
It is pertinent to mention here that Lakhbir Singh Rode, who has been declared a listed individual terrorist by the government of India, is involved in crimes of various nature viz. armed attack on the personnel of law enforcement agencies, carrying out blasts by use of explosive substances, criminal intimidation, target killing, extortion, raising fund for terrorist activities, creating terror amongst common people etc.
