Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane's sensational start to his National Football League career hit a stumbling block in the aftermath of Sunday's victory over the New York Giants.
Achane rushed for 151 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown in the Dolphins win.
After the game, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that Achane suffered a knee injury. McDaniel said on Monday that it was "trivial" to predict a timeline for Achane since the team was awaiting MRI results and other exams.

"It's just something we're treating that we'll get more information on," McDaniel told reporters during Monday's press conference. "He was in and out of the game, a standard rotation."
"He thought he might have something, but he's such a tough kid. It was tough to read, so we needed to evaluate more, and that's what we're doing today."
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero posted to social media on Tuesday that Achane will miss multiple weeks with the knee injury.
Achane's Impact
One of the knocks on Achane during the 2023 NFL Draft process was his need for more size. After missing the Dolphins' first game and playing sparingly in the second, the 5-foot-9, 188-pound Texas A&M standout overcame any questions about his strength with blazing speed. Achane ran for 203 yards in Week 3's 70-20 victory against the Denver Broncos.
Week 5 ended with Achane second in the NFL in rushing yards at 460 while 37th in rushing attempts.
Next Man Up?
The Dolphins haven't announced if they will place Achane on the Injured Reserve list. If they do, he'll have to miss at least four games: Sunday's against the Carolina Panthers, Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Week 8 versus the New England Patriots, and the Week 9 matchup with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.
The bye week comes in Week 10, giving Achane six weeks to recover before the Dolphins' Week 11 contest on November 19 at home against the Las Vegas Raiders.
It could be wise for the Dolphins to take it slow with Achane. If there's a team built to withstand losing a productive player on offense, it's the Dolphins.
Raheem Mostert leads the league with eight touchdowns. However, Achane's emergence has limited Mostert's carries. Mostert had 10 rushing attempts for 65 yards last week against the Giants. He had seven carries for 9 yards the previous week against the Bills when Achane had 101 yards.
Expect Mostert to get the lion's share of the carries missed by Achane. Reports out of South Florida say the Dolphins expect to open the practice window for Jeff Wilson, who missed the start of the season with an injury. Wilson rushed for 860 yards and five touchdowns last season.
