Hi David,
Good write-up! Learned a lot. I too have done a deep dive into HCA. On virtually every metric HCA looks fantastic, except for one. Capital Structure. Depending on how you measure debt-to-capital using book value vs. market cap, this is an extremely leveraged company with negative book value. With interest rates rising and the need to re-finance those loans, this does spell low probability risk.
Good write up. HCA is 10% of my concentrated portfolio, so I’m a believer.
