I thought you might also want to consider the attached chart and presentation by Carter Worth last week on Fast Money-see link below- that shows utilities have outperformed the S&P 500 over the past 23 years on a total return basis. He makes the point about the importance of dividends and also called a bottom in the sector along with Morningstar where top picks include Entergy and Duke Energy. The chart is pretty stunning to consider:
