Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.85%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 2.22 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.87 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 1.25 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.04 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(up 1.0 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 0.4 per cent), MRF Ltd.(down 0.12 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.85 per cent up at 15916.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 109.65 points at 19545.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 405.53 points at 65631.57.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Zomato and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SoftTech Engineers, Murudeshwar Cera, Goodluck India, Utkarsh Small Financ and ENIL hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Baid Leasing, Shree Ram Proteins, Navin Fluorine, McNally Bharat and Winsome Yarns hit their fresh 52-week lows.
