As the ICC World Cup 2023 tournament begins, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has made a special request to his friends: Don't ask for tickets. It is natural for cricketers to be inundated with requests for tickets especially when the tournament is being organized in India.
Taking to Instagram, Kohli said: "As we approach the World Cup, I would humbly like to let all my friends know to not request me for tickets at all throughout the tournament. Enjoy from your homes pls."
His wife Anushka Sharma added a hilarious note: "Please don't request me to help if your messages get unanswered. Thank you for your understanding."
"Once you start arranging tickets for your friends, you get inundated with requests....there is no end to it. We cricketers get limited number of passes and we have to accommodate our family," he said.
He added that he told his friends that they can enjoy the tournament from the comfort of their homes. India start their World Cup drive on October 8 in Chennai against five-time Champions Australia.
Indian cricket fans are hopeful of Men in Blue's chances in the World Cup as the last time 'Men in Blue' lifted the ODI World Cup was in 2011 on home soil.
Virat Kohli was in sublime form in the recently concluded Asia Cup. With his knock against Pakistan in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup, Kohli completed 13,000 ODI runs, becoming the fifth player to reach the landmark in men's ODIs.

Virat Kohli had made a similar request during the 2019 World Cup, ahead of the India-Pakistan World Cup match, which took place at Old Trafford. Kohli said that "when his friends ask him if they should come to watch the match, he says if you want to come, don't ask me for tickets or passes."
