Police have suspected the involvement of her husband in the crime, who managed to flee from the crime spot

A pregnant woman was strangled to death allegedly by her husband, who is now absconding, over a personal dispute in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district on Friday. The victim, who was eight months pregnant, was found lying in a pool of blood by her in-law when they came back home from the fields. According to the police, the victim and the accused had fought before the incident as her bangles were broken.

Police have suspected the involvement of her husband in the crime, who managed to flee from the crime spot.

The victim, identified as Rakhi Devi, got married to Rajendra in 2021. They used to have frequent fights as the accused was an alcoholic.

The body of the woman was sent for post mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.

According to India Today sources, Rajendra was suspicious of his wife and always used to check her phone. A police official was quoted as saying that all aspects are being probed and evidence is being collected from the crime scene.

It has been suspected that when the victim was alone at home on Friday morning, her husband allegedly came home drunk, killed her and fled the scene. The broken bangles suggested that Rakhi must have struggled before her death.
