Day 7 of Asian Games saw the Indian contingent surpass all expectations as they went past the medal haul recorded at Jakarta in 2018. India remain in fourth place in the overall standings at Hangzhou, with 38 medals to show, including 10 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze medals.
The Indian shooters are having a historic outing at this year’s Asian Games, as Day 7 kicked off with the pair of Sarabjot Singh and Thadigol Subbaraju clinching a Silver For India in the Mixed 10m Air Pistol event.
Later on in the day, the veteran Rohan Bopanna along with Rutuja Bhosale closed the door for their Chinese Taipei opponents and won the Gold in the Tennis Mixed Doubles event.
The Indian men’s squash team recorded a historic 3-2 win over Pakistan, it was double joy for the Indians in the men’s athletics 10,000m race as Kartik won silver, while Gulveer won bronze.

The shooters continue to bring in glory for India as the pair of Sarabjot Singh and Thadigol Subbaraju clinched India another Silver medal in the Mixed 10m Air Pistol event.

The duo were defeated by the team from China in a nail-biter of an end on a score of 14-16 in the final event.
Tennis Mixed Doubles FINAL:
The persistent pair of Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale came back from a set down to put away Chinese Taipei and clinch the Gold medal for India.

The pair lost the first set 2-6, and the put up an inspiring comeback in the second set to win it 6-3. In the final decider set, they put away their opponents 10-4 to bring home the gold.

Athletics, Men’s 10,000m Final
The pair of Kartik Kumar and Gulveer Singh managed to defy the odds as they secured 2 medals, a silver and bronze respectively in the men’s 10,000m race event in the Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China.
The pair managed to set new personal records. Kartik Kumar came in second with a time of 28:15:38 while Gulveer Singh finished with a time of 28:17:21.
Squash Men’s Final
The Indian men’s squash team has created history by beating Pakistan in the final. The contest went down the wire with Abhay Singh holding his nerves to save two game points against Noor Zaman to win 11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 12-10 in the third and final contest of the final to help his team clinch the gold. The three-match affair saw India concede a 0-1 lead after Mahesh Mangaonkar lost to Nasir Iqbal in straight games – 8-11, 3-11, 2-11.
However, Saurav Ghoshal pulled India on level terms by producing a dominating show to brush aside Muhammad Asim 11-5, 11-1, 11-3 and forced a decider.
Hockey, India vs Pakistan Pool A
In Hockey, India ran rampant as they beat Pakistan 10-2 to top Pool A with captain Harmanpreet Singh bagging four goals.
Badminton men’s Team semifinal
In the badminton men’s team semifinal, India registered a comeback 3-2 win over South Korea, the singles trio of HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth won their respective games, while Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty and MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila lost to their respective opponents.
Table Tennis, women’s doubles quarterfinal
Indian paddlers Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee scripted a historic win against the Chinese pair of Meng Chen and Yidi Wang – the reigning world champions – in the women’s Table Tennis Doubles quarter-finals on Sunday in Hangzhou. The Indian duo has assured India a first-ever Asian Games medal in women’s table tennis doubles as they advance into the semi-finals with a 3-1 triumph.
The quarterfinals was no less than a roller-coaster of emotions as both India and China had a close fight till the Mukherjee duo excelled with 11-5, 11-5, 5-11 & 11-9.

These respective wins bring India’s total tally at the Asian Games up to 38 medals, consisting of 10 Golds, 14 Silver, and 14 Bronze. India are currently 4th in the medals tally in the Asian Games.
