For a REIT Index ETF - another option is the more focused & concentrated $XLRE (Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund ETF) and is actually even a bit cheaper than VNQ at 0.10% ER.

Btw - an SA author is spearheading the launch of a Quality REITs ETF later this year.
bought it this week, too much work researching all the individual reits, so just went with the ETF
