A group of burglars reportedly broke into Spanish defender Sergio Ramos’s house in Seville when the footballer was busy with a Champions League assignment on September 21. The Spanish defender recently shifted to the upmarket La Alegria country estate in the city of Bollullos de la Mitacion with his family after rejoining his boyhood club Sevilla. The burglary happened at a time when Ramos’ wife Pilar Rubio, a journalist-cum-actor, was also out. The couple’s four children, aged between three and eight, were alone in the house, with two nannies.

The burglars managed to sneak into the house after bypassing the security alarm system. They terrorised Ramos’ young kids but caused no physical harm to them. The bandits decamped with some precious belongings of the Ramos family, including luxury watches, jewellery, designer clothes and cash. According to a report by The Sun, Sevilla police have already opened an enquiry into the robbery but they are yet to catch any of the culprits.
Sergio Ramos kicked off his professional career for Sevilla back in 2004. He played for the club only for one season and made 41 appearances before joining Real Madrid. Ramos enjoyed tremendous success during his 16-year-long spell with Los Blancos. He was also named the captain of the club following the transfer of Iker Casillas to FC Porto in 2015.
Ramos represented Real Madrid in 671 games across all competitions. Apart from leading the defence, the Spaniard was also a major threat in dead-ball situations. Despite being a centre-back, Ramos netted as many as 101 goals for Real Madrid. He was also part of the La Liga side in four Champions League triumphs and won the domestic league five times before shifting his base to Paris in the summer of 2021.
Ramos donned the Paris Saint Germain jersey for two seasons and played alongside former Barcelona man Lionel Messi. After securing two Ligue 1 titles, Ramos parted ways with PSG this summer to make a return to Sevilla.
Some major European clubs like Manchester United and Aston Villa had reportedly shown interest in signing Ramos. Reports had also emerged claiming the footballer got a mouth-watering offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad as well as Messi’s current club Inter Miami of the Major League Soccer (MLS).
Upon his return to Spain, Ramos made his first appearance for Sevilla in a La Liga fixture against Osasuna. He was also a starter in the club’s Champions League opener against French side Lens which ended in a 1-1 draw.
