As bouts of violence and protests renewed in
Manipur amid the killings of two youths,
Congress on Wednesday demanded that Prime Minister
Narendra Modi immediately sack chief minister
N Biren Singh. Maintaining that the death of the two youths, the killings of a police personnel and an Army jawan recently, and the ongoing students' protests are evidence of how the CM and the Union home minister have "failed" to restore normalcy in the border state since May, Congress accused the PM of showing "indifference" to the situation.
Demanding that the killers of these two innocent young civilians be brought to justice, AICC spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi expressed its solidarity with the agitating students.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X: "High time, PM Modi sacks
BJP's incompetent Manipur chief minister. This would be the first step to control any further turmoil."
