India Canada News LIVE Updates: Khalistan supporters hold protest outside Indian Consulate in Vancouver against Nijjar killing
India Canada News Live Updates: Many expressing support for the Khalistan movement gathered outside the Indian Consulate in Vancouver to stage a demonstration in response to the reported killing of Khalistani militant Hardeep Singh Nijjar. These protests transpired amidst allegations by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the Indian government may have been involved in Nijjar's demise.

During the protest, participants prominently displayed Khalistan flags, played music, and vociferously chanted slogans. Some even resorted to burning the Indian flag within a garbage container positioned near the Indian Consulate. Comparable protests were also documented in the city of Toronto.

The demonstrators vehemently referred to Nijjar's death as an "assassination" and demanded a public inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the case, as reported by Canada-based CTV News. This demonstration was just one among several organized by Khalistan supporters in various cities across Canada.

The World Sikh Organization had previously cautioned about the potential for "incitement and interference" and urged vigilance, according to reports by CTV News. In a statement, Tejinder Singh Sidhu, the President of the World Sikh Organization, called for a thorough investigation into the perpetrators responsible for Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing. He also emphasized the importance of community members promptly contacting law enforcement if they felt endangered or encountered any efforts to provoke violence.

Before the protest planned by Khalistan supporters, the Vancouver Police Department had preemptively closed off the area around the Indian Consulate in Vancouver. Barricades were positioned to block access to the building housing the Indian Consulate on Howe Street, as detailed in reports by CTV News. In a notification posted on social media, the Vancouver Police alerted the public to the temporary road closure, stating, "#VanTraffic: Howe Street is closed to vehicle traffic between W Cordova and W Hastings Street. Please plan an alternate route until further notice."

Later in the day, the Vancouver Police issued another update via social media, announcing the reopening of Howe Street to all vehicle traffic: "Howe Street is now open to all vehicle traffic."

The Foreign Ministry maintains a distinct perspective on this matter. India Canada News LIVE Updates: Sri Lankan Foreign Minister takes dig at Trudeau

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabry criticized Justin Trudeau's recent actions in Canada's parliament. Trudeau extended a warm welcome to an individual with a controversial past, particularly their association with the Nazis during World War II. Sabry said, "I observed that just yesterday, he offered a heartfelt reception to someone with historical ties to the Nazis during the Second World War. Such actions raise legitimate questions, especially given our previous experiences with such matters. It's not entirely surprising when Prime Minister Trudeau occasionally makes bold and unsupported claims."On September 22, during a speech delivered by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy in the Canadian Parliament, an acknowledgment was made for 98-year-old Ukrainian Yaroslav Hunka. Hunka had served in the first Ukrainian division, also known as the SS division "Galicia," during World War II, and this recognition was facilitated by the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada.

He also commented on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's tendency to make bold and unsubstantiated claims. During an exclusive interview with ANI, the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister remarked that he was unsurprised by Trudeau's statements, given the Prime Minister's history of making audacious allegations without concrete evidence.

"Some of the terrorists have found safe haven in Canada. The Canadian PM has this way of just coming out with some outrageous allegations without any supporting proof. The same thing they did for Sri Lanka, a terrible, total lie about saying that Sri Lanka had a genocide. Everybody knows there was no genocide in our country", said Sri Lankan Foreign Minister.
