The gold medals have started rolling in the Asian Games being held in Hangzhou, China. Let us take a look at India’s medal tally in the Asian Games so far.
The men’s Air Rifle 10m event in the Asiad saw the trio of Aishwary Tomar, Divyansh Panwar and Rudrankksh Patil manage to win gold for the team event, while Tomar managed to secure bronze for the individual leg.
The Indian Women’s cricket team also managed to secure a gold medal after defeating Sri Lanka in the finals. With the help of opener, Smriti Mandhana and number 3 batter, Jemimah Rodrigues, the Indian side was able to set a decent total of 116 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Titas Sadhu was the star of the bowling unit where she finished her quota of four overs with the figures of 3/6 helping India secure a victory by 19 runs. This marks India’s first medal in the Asian Games for a cricketing event as well. India managed to make it to the finals thanks to a dominant performance against Bangladesh where the managed to secure an easy win over the neighbouring country.
The Indian rowers managed to better their medals tally from the previous edition of the Asian Games. They finished this year with five medals on Monday. Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar and Ashish Goliyan narrowly missed a silver in the men’s fours event and finished the event with a time of 6:10:81. In the men’s quadruple sculls team of Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan and Sukhmeet Singh secured a bronze medal with a timing of 6:08.61.
In boxing, Roshibina Devi Naorem managed to advance to women’s 60kg semi-finals assuring a bronze at the very least. This is because Wushu always gives out two bronze medals which means that India is assured of a medal. It is yet to be seen how far Roshibina will progress and if she is able to secure a gold or not.
India has finished day 3 of the Asian Games with a tally of 2 golds, 3 silvers and 6 bronze medals.
