Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Madhav Marbles and Granites(up 5.56%), KIOCL(up 5.22%), 20 Microns(up 2.43%), Lexus Granito(up 1.09%), Coal India(up 1.03%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 0.67%), Ashapura Minechem(up 0.60%) and Aro Granite Industries(up 0.09%) stood among the top gainers.

Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 5.72%), Oriental Trimex(down 1.38%), Pokarna(down 1.11%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores(down 0.99%), MOIL(down 0.72%) and NMDC Ltd(down 0.52%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 68.1 points down at 19674.25, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 221.09 points at 66009.15.

IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 2.94%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 2.43%), State Bank of India(up 1.7%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.5%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 1.14%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.06%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.03%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 0.94%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.8%) and Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.77%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.67%), Wipro Ltd.(down 2.43%), Cipla Ltd.(down 1.69%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.65%), UPL Ltd.(down 1.63%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.52%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 1.51%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.21%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.2%) and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.15%) closed in the red.
