India Canada News LIVE Updates: Canadian Hindus 'soft targets', urges them to be calm, says Indian-origin MP
India Canada News Live: In response to a recent video by a Khalistani leader threatening and requesting Hindu Canadians to leave the nation, Indian-origin MP Chandra Arya on Thursday asked the community to remain calm, vigilant, and report cases of Hinduphobia.Emboldened by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's claims, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a certified Khalistani terrorist in India and leader of the banned Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), asked Indo-Canadian Hindus to leave the country, shocking and terrifying the community.

Pannun, according to the Hindu MP, is attempting to provoke Hindu-Canadians into reacting and dividing the Hindu and Sikh communities in Canada, which are linked via family relationships and shared social and cultural ties. According to him, Pannun's "direct attack" on Hindu-Canadians is a continuation of recent attacks on Hindu temples and public celebrations of terrorists assassinating Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

I urge Hindu-Canadians to stay calm but vigilant: Canadian MP Chandra Arya

Canadian MP Chandra Arya says, "Few days back Khalistan movement leader in Canada and the president of Sikhs for Justice which organizes the so-called referendum, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun attacked Hindu-Canadians asking us to leave Canada and go back to India. I have heard from many Hindu-Canadians who are fearful after this targeted attack. I urge Hindu-Canadians to stay calm but vigilant...The Khalistan movement leader is trying to provoke the Hindu-Canadians to react and divide the Hindu and Sikh communities in Canada. Let me be clear. Vast majority of our Canadian Sikh brothers and sisters do not support Khalistan movement. Most Sikh Canadians may not publicly condemn the Khalistan movement for several reasons but they are deeply connected to the Hindu-Canadian community...I can’t understand how glorification of terrorism or a hate crime targeting a religious group is allowed in the name of freedom of speech and expression..."
