day after the central committee of the CPI-M on Sunday allowed the Bengal CPI-M unit to field candidates against the Trinamool Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Trinamool Congress also took to their X handle and tweeted, "Recognising the importance of solidarity in safeguarding democratic values, Shri @abhishekaitc affirmed that our doors are always open to all like-minded parties. In this fight against the BJP, we shall stand tall and united!"
Senior CPI-M leader Sujan Chakraborty, however, clarified that they have not been invited to the coordination committee meeting of the INDIA bloc.
Meanwhile, after the polit bureau meeting yesterday, in a statement, CPI-M said, "The Polit Bureau decided to work for the further consolidation and expansion of the INDIA bloc to strengthen the efforts to safeguard the secular democratic character of the Indian Republic, the Constitution, Democracy and People’s fundamental rights
and civil liberties. This requires that the BJP must be kept away from controlling the Union government and State Power."
CPI-M in its statement said yesterday that the "Polit Bureau endorsed the CPI-M's position at the last three meetings of INDIA bloc in Patna, Bengaluru and Mumbai to organize a series of public meetings across the country and to mobilize the people to ensure the defeat of the BJP in the forthcoming elections."
