Parliament Special Session 2023: The five-day special session of the Parliament, is scheduled to commence today, marking a significant transition as parliamentary proceedings shift from the old building to the adjacent, state-of-the-art facility on September 19, on the occassion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, announced on Sunday that the session will include five sittings across the span of five days, with a focus on discussing eight legislative items. Additionally, there will be deliberations on the "Parliamentary journey of 75 years," encompassing achievements, experiences, memories, and learnings.
On the same day, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar raised the national flag at the "Gaja Dwar" of the new Parliament building, in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The Special Session of Parliament is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 22.

A demand for the women's reservation bill was raised by Trinamool's Derek O'Brien and was supported by almost all parties barring a few including the Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) and Jharkhand Mukhti Morcha (JMM), who were demanding reservation within this reservation for women from SC, ST and OBC categories in the proposed bill.

The Nationalist Congress Party on Sunday proposed the passing of the landmark women's reservation bill at an all-party meeting held on the eve of the special session of Parliament, party leader Praful Patel said.
“In the all-party meeting convened by the government on the eve of the Parliament session, I have put forward a proposal of the passing of the landmark women's reservation bill to commemorate 75 years of our Independence and opening of the New Parliament Building,” Patel, the working president of NCP and loyalist of Ajit Pawar, posted on X.
“This will be a true celebration and representation for 50 per cent of our population waiting for their recognition and respect in our society,” he added.
At the meeting, several political parties, including from the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc, made a strong pitch for the passage of the women's reservation bill during the five-day session beginning Monday.

TDP demands special status for Andhra at all-party meeting
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Ram Mohan Naidu on Sunday said he put forward the demand for a 'special category' status for Andhra Pradesh at the all-party meeting ahead of the Special Session of Parliament starting Monday.
The all-party meeting was held in the national capital on Sunday.
The TDP MP also offered his party's support and assistance to the tabling and passage of a Women's Reservation Bill.
Speaking to ANI after the all-party meeting on Sunday, the TDP MP said, "We have put forth the demand, citing the AP (Andhra Pradesh) Reorganisation Act, that after the bifurcation of (undivided Andhra Pradesh), the Centre has to deliver on all its promises at the earliest. These include a 'special category' status for Andhra Prades
