“The discussions are on, I will say that it is better late than never. Our leader Mamata Banerjee only raised this issue first. But I would like to say that all these talks could have been done in the Winter session also. What has happened currently so that a special session is been called whose agenda has not been decided yet. The agendas they have come up with, it doesn’t look like that a special session was required. However, this Women’s Reservation Bill is good, we all are in support of it. Now the question is this, that this news is based on rumours, will this Bill come or not?” said TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, BRS leader KTR hit out at PM Modi saying his speech on Telangana earlier today came across as “ignorant and arrogant”.
“I am deeply dismayed by Prime Minister @NarendraModi ji’s comments regarding the formation of Telangana state. This is not the first instance where the PM has made disparaging remarks about Telangana formation, and it reflects his utter disregard for historical facts. The people of Telangana tirelessly fought for six decades to attain statehood, a momentous achievement finally realized on June 2nd, 2014. The journey to statehood was marked by countless sacrifices, particularly from the youth of Telangana. To suggest that Telangana did not celebrate its statehood is not only factually incorrect but also comes across as ignorant and arrogant. In his attempts to criticize the Congress party, Prime Minister Modi has been repeatedly hurting the sentiments of the people of Telangana. It is crucial for political leaders in important positions to approach such sensitive historical matters with empathy and understanding, considering the emotions and sacrifices associated with them, ” he said.
“We (our party and alliance) would like that, as a farewell, the old Parliament should be given the honour of passing the women’s reservation bill. If possible, increase the percentage of reservations. The old Parliament, which has Central Hall, has memories from Bhagat Singh to Nehru. So if we really want to honour the old Parliament in this session, then the historic work should be done there, ” said former CM of Uttarakhand and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat.

“The PM never talks on the issues of the country. He doesn’t talk about the promises he made before becoming the PM. He only talks about himself and Modi did this, Modi did that. Other than this he just curses and abuses Congress. He talks about misusing the democratic institutions. But he will not talk about the problems of the people of the country. The PM of the country should talk about inflation, unemployment, increasing farmers’ income, China grabbing our land. Today they called the special session but were unable to tell an agenda, ” said Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra on PM Modi’s speech in the parliament.

Addressing Parliament today, NCP’s Supriya Sule hailed late parliamentarians Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley who she said were one of the tallest leaders according to her despite being from BJP.
“…I appreciate the PM’s speech today where he appreciated that governance is continuity. Various people have contributed over the last 7 decades to build this country which we all love equally. Whether you call it India or Bharat, it is your own country. We are all born here, we are all blessed to be here…I would like to put on record two people who have not been mentioned by the BJP today, who I have been highly influenced by in my Parliamentary work, who come from BJP but I still feel that they were one of the tallest leaders and were extraordinary Parliamentarians who we looked up to – Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. They constantly talked about cooperative federalism. It is not this side or that side, good work has to be established.”

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday began his speech on the first day of the special session with a poem and advised the government that “if it cannot do anything then leave the chair”, and also took a jibe, saying that the Centre was trying to scare a strong opposition with the ED to weaken it.
Kharge, who is also the Congress president, in his opening note in the Rajya Sabha said, “If you want to change then change the situation now. What happens by changing names like this? If you want to give employment to the youth what happens by making everyone unemployed? Try expanding your heart a little, what happens when you kill people? If you can’t do anything, leave your chair. What happens if you scare each other? You are proud of your rule, what happens by bullying people?”
Chairman Dhankhar responded with the number of disruptions that took place in the Rajya Sabha during different sessions and objected to the Opposition’s ‘disrespecting’ the decision of the Chair.
“We have spent a lot of time in the old Parliament and learned about the procedure of the House. We are proud that all the MPs will work for the future of the country from the new Parliament,” says LJP MP Chirag Paswan.
A cabinet meeting is likely today at 6:30 a.m. It is important as this means a bill can be brought in by the government which will be cleared by the cabinet. It is to be noted many in the government said even if the government brings the Women’s Reservation Bill, it will be different from the 2010 bill.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday hailed the success of G20 Summit and said that the launch of the India, Middle East, Europe economic corridor and Biofuel Alliance have sowed the seeds for the connected future in which India will continue to play an important role.
In his address to the Rajya Sabha members on the first day of the five-day Special Session, Dhankhar said, “The launch of the India, Middle East Europe economic Corridor and the Global Biofuel Alliance during the (G20) summit are significant. These initiatives have sowed the seeds for the connected future in which India will continue to play an important role.”
He said that India’s climate leadership was visible with the adoption of high level principles of life on building pro-planet people and recognition by the developed world to substantially scale up investment and climate finance to meet climate goals.
